RONALD P. WHITWORTH

AREAS OF PRACTICE

Ronald P. Whitworth is an associate in the Privacy & Data Security and Telecommunications Groups in our Washington D.C. office. Mr. Whitworth is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), as certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and handles a wide variety of state, U.S., and international privacy and data security matters for ZAG/S&W’s clients. He also works closely with ZAG/S&W’s Trademarks, Copyright & Licensing Group on matters involving online businesses. Mr. Whitworth’s telecommunications practice focuses on licensing, compliance, corporate, policy and transactional matters before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and other domestic and international regulatory agencies.

Before joining ZAG/S&W, Mr. Whitworth was a member of Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein’s staff at the FCC, and was an associate with Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth, P.L.C. He is a graduate of The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, and completed the Certificate program at the Institute for Communications Law Studies at Catholic. During law school, Mr. Whitworth served as the senior lead articles editor of CommLaw Conspectus, and president of the Communications Law Students Association, Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, and Sports Law Society. He was also a member of Catholic’s National Telecommunications Moot Court Team, and received the school’s "Marathon Award" in 2006 for "extraordinary dedication and outstanding service to the law school community."

Prior to law school, Mr. Whitworth spent six years as editor-in-chief of Inside Wisconsin and Badger Nation Magazine and covered University of Wisconsin athletics for the Associated Press. He has appeared on dozens of local and national radio and television programs, including ESPN Radio and Fox Sports Radio. Mr. Whitworth is also a former associate producer for "The George Michael Sports Machine" and the NBC-4 Sports Department in Washington, D.C.
