Jim Wrathall is a member of the Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Group in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Wrathall’s practice encompasses energy and water resources project development, finance and regulatory matters; corporate transactions; licensing and intellectual property matters; and federal court litigation and arbitration.

Mr. Wrathall previously served as Majority Senior Counsel with the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee from 2007 through 2011. At the EPW Committee, Mr. Wrathall was responsible for energy, water resources, climate change and environmental legislation; oversight of Executive Branch programs; and working with federal, state, regional and foreign officials, private sector constituents and NGOs on energy and environmental issues and legislation.

Mr. Wrathall previously was a partner with WilmerHale LLP, where he represented clients in energy and environmental regulatory matters, mergers and acquisitions and technology transactions; served as lead counsel in litigation and bankruptcy matters; conducted internal investigations; and advised clients on regulatory, financing, intellectual property and corporate issues. Mr. Wrathall’s clients at WilmerHale included New England Electric System, National Grid, American Electric Power, PG&E National Energy Group, Textron Inc., Fannie Mae, Hartford Insurance Group, Network Solutions, Inc., Citigroup, HSBC, AOL and AES Corp.

Mr. Wrathall’s practice focuses on the intersection of public policy, regulation and finance, with emphasis on advanced energy projects and transactions. He is a member of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) Power Generation and Infrastructure Advisory Committee, and guest lecturer at the American University, Kogod School of Business, Masters Degree in Sustainability Program.
