Lyndsey C. Bechtel
Lyndsey C. Bechtel is a staff attorney in the Environment & Natural Resources Group in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Her practice focuses on regulatory compliance issues with particular emphasis on the Clean Air Act, environmental and natural resources litigation, and climate-related business and technology.
Before entering private practice, Ms. Bechtel gained experience in the public sector as a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) legal intern and an Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) environmental law specialist. While working for the U.S. EPA in the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, Ms. Bechtel helped enforce Title II of the Clean Air Act. While working for the Oregon DEQ, Ms. Bechtel enforced environmental laws related to industrial process wastewater, air quality, stormwater, hazardous waste, solid waste and underground storage tanks.
During the course of her work with federal and state authorities, Ms. Bechtel also consulted with and advised members of the regulated community regarding compliance with various environmental regulations including Clean Air Act National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) asbestos disposal regulations, and hazardous waste regulations under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
Ms. Bechtel holds a Certificate of Merit awarded by the Lewis & Clark Honors Program for completing 360 legal pro bono hours. She was also a finalist in an oral advocacy competition at Stetson University College of Law. Prior to joining ZAG/S&W, Ms. Bechtel was an associate at Kafoury McDougal in Portland, Oregon.
