Dom Pugliese was quoted in the article, “Continued Education: Colleagues, Industry Experts, Trade Organizations and Their Extended Networks Can Play a Role for Boards,” which was published in the January 2020 issue of Fund Directions [sub. req.].
In the article, Dom discusses the importance of adopting continued education as part of board directors’ best practices in the context of new mutual fund regulations. According to Dom, “learning from each other is fundamentally an important part of this business, and that’s how one assesses best practices, that’s how one can share ideas and improve the industry as a whole.”
Dom also observes that requiring directors to report on their own participation in continuing education programs and conferences to the rest of the board throughout the year is helpful in monitoring these efforts. He also stresses the importance of effective communication between the board and the CCO regarding expectations for what kinds of matters should be reported to the full board.
