Boston, April 18, 2018 – International law firm ZAG-S&W is pleased to announce that Washington, DC-based Investment Management partner Nicole Crum has been named a “Rising Star” in the mutual fund industry by leading trade publications Fund Action and Fund Directions. Crum also heads the firm’s Corporate Governance and Board Advisory practice group.
“I am honored by this recognition and the generous support of my clients, colleagues and the broader mutual fund community,” said Crum. “I am grateful for the opportunity to count as clients, partners and friends a group of exceptional individuals with high integrity.”
Rising Stars is a highly coveted recognition of industry up-and-comers identified by Fund Action and Fund Directions based on leadership, client service, and contributions to the mutual fund industry, among other criteria. An awards dinner to salute the Rising Stars was held at Cipriani in New York City on April 12.
“Nicole represents the next generation of leadership not only at ZAG-SW, but also in the broader mutual fund governance field,” said Joel Carpenter, managing partner of the firm. “She is an outstanding example of the forward-thinking and committed professionals we’re proud to have on our teams.”
Crum’s client work focuses on representing fund boards and independent directors, as well as investment advisers and broker-dealers. In 2017 she was named inaugural chair of ZAG-SW’s Board Advisory and Corporate Governance practice, leveraging firm-wide resources in representing mutual fund, private fund and operating company boards.
A noted leader within the firm, Crum is the firm-wide chair of the Women’s Initiative and serves on the firm’s Diversity Committee and Lateral Partner Hiring Committee. She is an advocate for the advancement of women in the legal profession; in 2017 she was named a Legal Council for Legal Diversity Fellow (LCLD).
Crum earned her undergraduate degree from Ohio State University, her J.D. from Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and an LLM in international law from University of London.
