Sullivan & Worcester Grows Boston Office with Three New Hires

Sullivan & Worcester has announced that Alijah Arah, Caroline Kupiec and Spencer Stone have joined the firm. The Boston-based trio enhances and strengthens Sullivan & Worcester’s growing Tax, Employment & Benefits and Real Estate practices. The firm also recently promoted Maura Carney (Tax/Trusts & Estates) and Eric Simanek (Investment Management) to partners.

Alijah Arah is an associate in the Employment & Benefits Group and the Tax Department. He focuses on equity compensation plans, labor and ERISA issues, as well as structuring for federal, state, local and international tax optimization for proposed public and private mergers and acquisitions. Alijah received his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and his LL.M in Taxation from New York University School of Law. Prior to joining Sullivan & Worcester, Alijah was an associate at Kirkland & Ellis.
Caroline Kupiec is an associate in the Tax Department. She represents clients from a range of industries, including private equity, manufacturing and insurance, before federal and state tax authorities at all stages of the controversy process. Caroline received her J.D., with honors, from the Washington School of Law and her LL.M. from the University of Washington School of Law. Caroline was previously withh KPMG as a senior associate in their Tax Controversy Services.
Spencer Stone is counsel in the Real Estate Department. Spencer joins the firm from Murtha Culina and is experienced in all aspects of commercial and corporate law. He represents clients in real estate, commercial financing, business transactions, general corporate and commercial matters. His representation of clients includes negotiation of loan documentation, purchase and sale agreements, leases and entity formation, as well as commercial real estate and asset-based lending transactions. Spencer received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Western New England School of Law.
